It is often difficult to persuade students in monolingual groups to actually speak English in the classroom. This one week course introduces teachers to many practical activities to encourage their students to really communicate, at the same time as refreshing and developing their own language proficiency.

This course is aimed at those in the teaching profession whose current English level is B2 (Upper Intermediate) level or above. The one week course can be combined with one of our 2 week courses for teachers, another one week course, or with general English.
During your course you will have 22.5 hours with your trainers including an excursion into central London. You will be asked to complete a needs analysis questionnaire when you book so we can plan the sessions around the exact language objectives and interests of the group. During the sessions, you will take part in small group and pair work activities, open discussions and workshops, and your trainers will of course include error correction to ensure your fluency improves. You will also benefit from the combined experience and ideas of all the participants.
The sessions are designed to improve your English whilst demonstrating a range of activities used to teach speaking or listening skills in the language classroom and considering the theories which underpin them. The sessions are very practical and could include –
By the end of the course you will have improved your overall language proficiency and will have a portfolio of practical activities for teaching speaking & listening in your classroom.
After lessons, you can join our guided self study sessions and can also take part in our regular programme of cultural and social activities, in order to fully benefit from your time in London.
