Most people think that London is a very expensive city. But it is possible to enjoy London on a limited budget and there are many wonderful things you can do for free or a small price.
It costs nothing to visit Trafalgar Square and Nelson’s Column and to look at Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament or watch the Changing of the Guard. And many buildings such as Southwark Cathedral and the Bank of England are free to enter.
London has over 300 museums, galleries and collections, and most of these are free. Try the British Museum, Tate Modern, the Science Museum or the National Gallery.
There are very few cities in the world that have as many parks as London. When you walk through Regent’s Park, Green Park or St James’s Park you will feel you have left the city behind. In summer there are also often free concerts in the parks.
There is something happening almost every week in London. You don’t have to pay to watch the Notting Hill Carnival, the Oxford & Cambridge University Boat Race, the Chinese New Year Parade or many other exciting events.
